Capstone Type

I enjoyed the capstone requiring teamwork. I felt that being part of a team enhanced my understanding of what was covered in the capstone. I also felt that teamwork made the capstones more exciting because I exchanged ideas with people with different arguments. The capstones in an organizational setting were also exciting because they gave me firsthand experience and enabled me to implement my knowledge and skills, thus allowing me to identify my strengths, competencies, and weaknesses to continue advancing my personal and career growth.

Internship Berkowitz Pollack Brant Capstone

The Berkowitz Pollack Brant internship was an engaging experience for me. Besides familiarizing me with the roles and responsibilities of an intern, the capstone enlightened me about the benefits of an internship program and what to consider when selecting an internship job. I was ranked among the most well-behaved and productive interns and assigned the role of leading other interns. Some of the responsibilities within my role as an intern leader included forwarding the grievances of all interns to the department supervisors and following up on issues relating to the behavior of the interns, such as absenteeism and lateness. There were some complaints from some interns who felt that I was being favored because, most of the time, I was assigned less complex tasks, but the idea behind this was to give me more time to supervise other interns. I got a job offer from the company after completing my internship program. I was given a good letter of recommendation that I used to get a job in another place that offered higher pay than what I would receive as an employee in the organization where I had worked as an intern.

International Taxation

The international taxation capstone was challenging initially, but I gradually adapted after understanding various concepts relating to international taxation. I spent most of my time attending group discussions to review the concepts within the capstone and set small targets on what I intended to achieve within the capstone. I plan to further my studies on international taxation to prepare me for the roles and responsibilities in the area in the business environment. I intend to understand various taxation policies in different countries, laws and regulations defining tax compliance, and the fines and punishments put in place to prevent tax evasion and tax avoidance. I can use the knowledge to work as a taxation consultant for local and global firms, increasing my competitiveness in the job market.
